About the Role
As a general labourer at Sandy Flats Estate Inc., you will play a vital role in the cultivation and harvesting of high-quality crops. This seasonal role offers the chance to work outdoors, master various farming techniques, and contribute to a productive team environment.
Job Responsibilities
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Hoeing between crop rows to maintain clean and healthy fields.
- Planting, cultivating, and irrigating crops such as ginseng, soybeans, and tobacco.
- Removing suckers and water sprouts manually to ensure proper growth.
- Weeding, fertilizing, and spraying crops for optimum quality.
- Operating and maintaining farm machinery, including tractors, loaders, and tillage equipment.
- Harvesting crops and inspecting them for quality before market readiness.
- Cleaning the work area to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
Work Setting and Conditions
- Location: Rural area
- Physical Requirements: This role is physically demanding and includes repetitive tasks, standing for long periods, bending, crouching, and kneeling. You should also be able to distinguish between colors and work under tight deadlines.
- Tools & Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots are required, and the employer provides parking on-site.
Equipment and Machinery Experience
Candidates with experience operating farm trucks, forklifts, tractors, and automated irrigation systems are highly desirable. However, even if you are just starting and eager to learn, you are encouraged to apply.
