Key Responsibilities
As an educator at HCCDC, your responsibilities will vary depending on your qualifications, experience and the specific role you are assigned to within the centre. Some of the primary duties include:
- Collaborating with the management team, Educational Leader, Early Childhood Teachers and Room Leader to plan and implement age-appropriate, developmental programs for the children in your care.
- Assisting in the planning and delivery of culturally rich, inclusive learning environments and activities that are tailored to the developmental needs and interests of all children, in collaboration with Early Childhood Teachers, Room Leaders, parents and other educators.
- Ensuring that the centre’s programs operate within the guidelines of the regulations, the Act, the Quality Improvement Plan and the service’s policies and procedures.
- Actively contributing to the ongoing development and implementation of the centre’s Quality Improvement Plan.
- For those with relevant skills and experience, taking on the role of Team Leader, Room Leader or Supervising Educator, where you will direct the care and activities for specific age groups or rooms.
- Assisting with the orientation of new families to the centre and maintaining positive, respectful and collaborative relationships with both families and the local community.
- Contributing to the provision of a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for all children.
- Working with the entire staff team to ensure that all children are properly supervised and cared for at all times.
Salary Information
HCCDC offers competitive pay rates based on qualifications and experience. The pay structure is as follows:
- Diploma-Qualified (Minimum 2 years’ experience): $33/hour
- Diploma-Qualified (Less than 2 years’ experience): $30/hour
- Certificate III (Minimum 2 years’ experience): $27.50/hour
- Diploma-Qualified Visa Candidate: $36/hour

Required Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for an educator role at HCCDC, you must meet the following qualifications and requirements:
- Diploma of Children’s Services and/or Certificate III in Children’s Services or currently working toward these qualifications.
- A current Working with Children Check.
- A current Police Check.
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificates (HLTAID00 – HLTAID012 or equivalent).
- An excellent understanding and demonstrated competency in the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standards (NQS).
- A willingness to learn and engage in relevant professional development.
- A passion for the early childhood industry and a desire to provide the highest standard of care and education.
